EC issue show cause notice to BJP's Abhijit Gangopadhyay over remarks against CM
Police have charged a man with raping a woman over the past three years. The woman was also forced to undergo two abortions.
According to the police, the accused promised the woman that he would marry her but later backtracked. The victim filed a police complaint stating that she met accused Vinod Prajapati of Prayagraj at an event in 2019 and they befriended each other, police said.
She said that later Vinod met her on several occasions and promised to marry her. She became pregnant twice, and when she told the defendant, he forced her to have abortions, the woman claimed.
She further claimed that when the accused did not marry her even after two miscarriages, she went to his native house and disclosed everything to Vinod's family members.
Acting on a complaint, the police on Tuesday arrested the man under relevant sections of the IPC including 376 (rape).
Superintendent of Police Chakeri Ratnesh Singh said that the matter is being investigated by registering an FIR on the complaint of the victim. "Action will be taken based on the evidence," Singh added.
